2nd September
Unusually starting the new month with a selection of Aircraft pictures, including a visit to the island by the Great North Air Ambulance for a training mission with local emergency services at Noble's Hospital.  There are 15 new pictures in Aircraft 2021 Pt 3.  Nikon D7100 & Samsung A71 1/9/21

5th September
A walk around the Langness Peninsula on Friday afternoon, unfortunately it stayed grey and overcast for almost all of the walk, but it is still a lovely walk.  We did just over five and a half miles on it, walking right around.  Panasonic TZ200 3/9/21

There are two new Aircraft pictures taken at Ronaldsway in Aircraft 2021 Pt 3.  Panasonic TZ200 3/9/21

A little foray out yesterday afternoon for a spot of exercise but also to try out the latest camera to join the Island Images collection, a GoPro.  It's a bit of a quirky device for somebody more used to conventional cameras and has a very wide angle lens (15 mm in 35 mm equivalent) so you need to get up close to things for the pictures to work.  Function selections are all on a rather small touchscreen (the whole camera is tiny!) so can be quite difficult.  I think it's designed more for video, particularly 'selfie' types as it has a second screen on the front, but I'll be using mainly for still photography.  GoPro Hero 9 5/9/21

Something a bit different from yesterday afternoon. I've just bought a 'sit on' Kayak from the excellent Manx Paddleboards and Leisure, a Galaxy Kayaks Blaze HV, 'Nimbus III' which was delivered to my home the previous day.  The weather was superb for an initial paddle so I set out to Castletown beach to try it out.

Why is the new Kayak 'Nimbus III'? Well I needed a name for my first kayak to regisiter it with the then British Waterways Board for use on canals in England and I settled on 'Nimbus' after one of the 'Deltic' locomotives that used to operate on the East Coast main Line.  Here's 'Nimbus' and 'Nimbus II'

10th September
An Wednesday afternoon we did a walk that had been a favourite of ours during the early Covid 'lockdown' period, as we rarely ever saw anybody else on it and if we did it was easy to keep well separated.  It's the 'Warden's Walk' in the Colden Plantation area of West Baldwin valley, with an extension that we discovered quite early on.  Only around three miles in length (with the extension) but with around a total of just over 700 ft of climb and descent.  We took our time and I did a couple of flights with the Mini 2.  Our extension to the walk has become a bit overgrown with vegetation and was a bit tricky to follow at one point due to the bracken.

11th September
Something a little different again.  Yesterday we went for lunch at the excellent Milntown House cafe and afterwards went for a stroll around the gardens.  All these pictures (except the last one) were take with the GoPro in its 'Wide' picture mode, where the distortion from the very wide angle lens (15 mm equivalent) is left in the picture. I've also left them in the GoPro's native 3:4 format, instead of cropping down to my usual 16:9 size.  GoPro Hero 9 10/9/21

A treat on the way home!  At Gelatory in Ramsey.  GoPro Hero 9 10/9/21

14th September
Continuing with some experimental shots with the GoPro, these were taken in a rather wet Douglas late yesterday afternoon.  GoPro Hero 9 13/9/21

15th September
Another paddle out in the new Blaze HV kayak, 'Nimbus III'.  The initial intention was to go from Port Soderick, but with the tide level it would have involved crossing a lot of seaweed covered rocks, so I continued on to Port Erin instead, where it is easy to launch from the beach at any tide state.
